Union Minister of State (MoS) for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Labour, and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, chaired a review meeting in Baramulla today to assess progress under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational District Programme (ADP).
The meeting was attended by MLA Baramulla, Javed Hassan Beigh, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, along with officials from the Ministry of MSME, Labour & Employment, and other concerned departments. Officials briefed the minister on Baramulla’s remarkable improvement in the Delta Ranking, moving from 108th to 46th position among 112 districts, achieving a composite score of 59.3 as of September 2024.

- Significant rise in student enrollment, particularly among girls.

- Instructed the administration to establish food processing units to efficiently utilize locally grown apples, preventing wastage and supporting farmers.
- Encouraged MSME development, employment generation, and skill enhancement programs.

- Distributed computers, smart boards, and essential resources to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and schools to strengthen local governance and education.
- Directed accelerated execution of developmental projects under government schemes.
Inaugurations & Key Visits
During her visit, Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated a hi-tech polygreenhouse spanning 500 square meters at Chakloo, sanctioned under the HADP scheme with a 95% subsidy for local farmer Dr. Mudasir Ali.
She also visited Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, where she:
- Inaugurated advanced Endo-Urological Equipment at the Associated Hospital, enhancing urology care.
- Opened the newly constructed Medical Registration Department (MRD) Registration Centre, streamlining patient registration processes.
Reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment to data-driven governance, Shobha Karandlaje emphasized the holistic development of Aspirational Districts through targeted interventions and strategic planning.
